Hunza™ Black Label Warranty

When you purchase or specify a Hunza™ luminaire, you get the benefit of the legendary Hunza™ reputation for high quality and long life. We back this up with our Black Label extended warranty, offering up to 25 years on body components and 5 years on the integral PURE LED™ system. When installed and maintained properly, Hunza™ luminaires will last a lifetime so we keep serviceability firmly in mind when designing the components and system construction.

Hunza™ 25 Year Warranty

All Hunza™ Cast Bronze luminaires have a 25 year replacement warranty against body corrosion, subject to the standard conditions listed below.

Hunza™ 10 Year Warranty

Hunza™ stainless steel* and copper luminaires have a 10 year replacement warranty on body components, subject to the standard conditions listed below (*excludes underwater fixtures).

Hunza™ 5 Year Warranty

All Hunza™ aluminium luminaires with a UV stable powder-coat finish and underwater fixtures have a 5 year replacement warranty on body components, subject to the standard conditions listed below.

Hunza™ Lifetime Warranty

All glass lenses supplied with Hunza™ luminaires have a lifetime warranty.

Hunza™ PURE LED™ System

Integral PURE LED components have a 5 year warranty and are subject to the standard conditions listed below.

Other Hunza™ Components

5 year warranty on other Hunza™ components, Hunza™ accessories and are subject to the standard conditions listed below.

Third Party Components

Coverage on plug-in (drop-in) LED lamps, power supplies and other 3rd-party components are limited to the manufacturer’s warranty.

Standard Conditions:

  1. Warranty is subject to proof of purchase being provided and begins at the date of invoicing from the factory.
  2. All Hunza™ luminaires must be installed according to the installation instructions supplied with the luminaires by a certificated
    electrician. The installer is solely responsible for determining the correct wiring of series or parallel luminaires.

2.1. All connections within the electrical system must be waterproof.

  1. The environment in which the fixture is to be installed must be considered carefully when selecting the finish. Solid Bronze, Copper or Stainless Steel luminaires are recommended for high-risk environments such as near salt water or salt laden air. Aluminium luminaires may not be covered by the full warranty in these situations.
  2. Bronze, Copper and Aluminium fixtures are not recommended for installation in areas high in geothermal activity. Warranty is not offered for these materials in geothermal areas.
  3. For aluminium fixtures, warranty on the powder coat finish is excluded for failure due to exposure to: chemical substances in the ground, fertilizers and water containing corrosive agents.
  4. Stainless Steel requires regular cleaning with fresh water when installed in high salinity environments. (Refer to instructions supplied with luminaire). The warranty does not cover tea staining or surface pitting caused by inadequate maintenance procedures.
  5. Hunza™ underwater fixtures are not covered by warranty in situations where there are chemical imbalances in the water.
  6. Warranty is excluded for corrosion due to electrolytic reactions caused by the presence of electrical current in the ground or water.
  7. Warranty excludes impact damage (except for glass lenses), incorrect installation and incorrect re-assembly.
  8. Fixtures must be kept properly maintained, including replacement of gaskets and lenses when necessary and use of approved wattage lamps.
  9. Fixtures must not be pressure washed (water blasted). Please refer to IP ratings of each fixture.
  10. Hunza™, at its discretion, may replace components to remedy the fault or supply a replacement fixture.
  11. Hunza™ warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of products ONLY. Labour charges will not be accepted.
  12. Warranty on transformers is limited to 5 years, and applies only when transformers are installed in environments at less than 40 degrees Celsius ambient temperature.
  13. Hunza™ will not be liable for any labour charges for any repair or replacement of defective drivers. Drivers have their own
    manufacturer warranty and any faults will be at the responsibility of the manufacturer.
  14. Hunza™ reserves the right to limit liability on non-standard (custom designed) luminaires and/or delivery arrangements.
  15. Damage caused by lightning strikes, high voltage spikes or incorrect polarity connection is not covered by the Black Label warranty.
  16. Polycarbonate and acrylic lenses are limited to a 5 year warranty.
  17. N.B. Acrylic Quartz, Cloak, TIR or Bollard lenses must NOT be cleaned with any petrochemical substance. This will void the
    warranty.
  18. Warranty excludes halogen lamps and lamp holders, which are consumable items.
  19. Use of 3rd party colour correction gels and filters will void the warranty if used with PureLED products.

Statutory rights

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

A failure to comply with a consumer guarantee is a major failure if the product:

• would not have been bought by a reasonable consumer who knew about the problem;

• is significantly different from the description, sample or demonstration model (if it was sold by description or by reference to a sample or demonstration model);

• is substantially unfit for its usual purpose, and it cannot be fixed easily in a reasonable time;

• is unfit for your particular purpose which you told us or the supplier about before you purchased the product, and it cannot by fixed easily in a reasonable time; or

• is unsafe.

Warranty

We offer this warranty in addition to your other legal rights and remedies in respect to the product, which you are entitled to under the Australian Consumer Law.

We warrant that the product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship when used normally in accordance with the user and product instructions for 5 years for Aluminium Luminaires and all electronics, 10 years for Copper and Stainless Luminaires, 25 years for Solid Bronze luminaires from the date of the original purchase, which is stated on your receipt or invoice (“Warranty”).

All products deemed by us to be defective in workmanship or materials will be either repaired or replaced by us free of charge.

This Warranty applies to products which:

• were manufactured by us, or on our behalf;

• bear our trade mark  

• were sold by us or our authorised distributors; and

• were not bought in an auction.

Installation of our products must be performed by a qualified and licensed electrician. This Warranty will not apply if the product is installed by other than a qualified and licensed electrician.

We do not accept liability for any direct or consequential damage, loss or other expense arising from misuse or incorrect installation and operation of our product.

This Warranty is only valid in Australia. This means that the Warranty can only be enforced to service the product in Australia.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, conditions and liabilities which are not guaranteed under the Australian Consumer Law or which are not expressly stated in this Warranty. Among other things, this exclusion applies to liability for any loss, whether direct or indirect, relating to your purchase of the product, use of the product or inability to use the product.

This Warranty does not apply to damage or issues with the product caused by:

• incorrect voltage

• failure to follow the installation instructions supplied with the product

• improper or incomplete installation or assembly

• installation by an unqualified and/or unregistered electrician

• improper or unauthorised electrical connection

• corrosion due to electrolytic reactions caused by the presence of electrical current in the ground or water

• inadequate maintenance procedures

• high pressure washing

• external causes, such as, but not limited to, fire, extreme temperature, water, flood, moisture, dampness, liquid touching or entering the product, other foreign material entering the product, dirt, dust, rust, corrosive conditions (including salt and sand), theft, vandalism, collision, infestation by pests or insects, electrical surges or dips, hail, thunderstorms, lightning strikes, high voltage spikes or incorrect polarity connection, earthquakes, tornadoes, acid rain, acts of God, terrorism, war, environmental conditions or any other act or circumstance beyond our control.

Making a claim

Any claim under this Warranty must be made within the listed timeframe of the date of purchase of the product.

If you believe that your product has a defect, you can make a claim under this Warranty by calling us on 1 800 187 760 during ordinary business hours between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm  (Australian Eastern Standard Time) or by emailing us at office@hunza.com.au. Any claim must include the following details:

• your contact details including your first and last name, email address, phone number, company details (if applicable) and installation address;

• the product details including proof of purchase (eg. receipt or invoice), product code (if available), product description and brief description of the issue/defect;

• contact details of the certificated electrician that installed the product; and

• any photographs of the defect, proof of purchase and electrician receipt/invoice.

If you cannot provide the above information and show the proof of purchase, we may reject your claim.

We will handle your information in accordance with the Privacy Policy available at https://hunzalighting.com/privacy-policy/. We may share your information with our authorised service personnel, to process your claim.

You must make any claim under this Warranty within the three-year warranty period, if you are claiming under this Warranty. However, you may still have statutory rights after this time. Each claim will be assessed according to its individual circumstances.

We may request that you arrange for the product to be posted to us. If your claim is assessed as being valid and the product is located within the State of Victoria, we will pay for the reasonable cost of you posting the product to us and returning the repaired or replacement product to you. If the product is located outside of the State of Victoria, then you must bear the cost of posting the product to us. To check whether the postage cost is reasonable, please call us on 1 800 187 760 during ordinary business hours between 9:00 am and 5:00 pm (Australian Eastern Standard Time) or by emailing us at office@hunza.com.au. We reserve the right to not reimburse you for unreasonable postage costs if you have not checked with us before you paid. You can claim the cost of posting the product by sending us an email to office@hunza.com.au and attaching a copy of the receipt for the postal costs.

If you send the product to us, use its original packaging, or use other appropriate packaging that is designed to protect it. Unless we or our authorised service personnel are transporting the product, it is transported at your risk. In particular, we are not responsible for damage to the product which occurs during transport caused by inappropriate or insufficient packaging. We also are not liable for loss or theft of the product during transport. We recommend that you insure the product during transport. If we reimburse you for the transport costs, we will also reimburse you for the reasonable insurance costs.

Remedy under this warranty

If we assess that your claim is valid and there is a minor failure with the product which can be repaired, we will either repair it, replace it with an identical or similar product or refund the money you paid for it. We will do so within a reasonable time. We will decide which course to take depending on the circumstances and the requirements of law. Any repair or replacement will be free of charge, both in relation to labour and parts.

If we assess that your claim is valid and there is a major failure with the product or if there is a minor failure which cannot be repaired, we will refund the price you paid for the product or replace it.
