Terms & conditions

Standard Conditions

  1. Warranty is subject to proof of purchase being provided and begins at the date of invoicing from the factory.
  2. All Hunza™ luminaires must be installed according to the installation instructions supplied with the luminaires by a certificated electrician. The installer is solely responsible for determining the correct wiring of series or parallel luminaires. All connections within the electrical system must be waterproof.
  3. The environment in which the luminaire is to be installed must be considered carefully when selecting the finish. Solid Bronze, Copper or Stainless Steel luminaires are recommended for high-risk environments such as near salt water or salt laden air. Aluminium luminaires may not be covered by the full warranty in these situations.
  4. Bronze, Copper and Aluminium luminaires are not recommended for installation in areas high in geothermal activity. Warranty is not offered for these materials in geothermal areas.
  5. For aluminium luminaires, warranty on the powder coat finish is excluded for failure due to exposure to chemical substances in the ground, fertilizers and water containing corrosive agents.
  6. Stainless Steel requires regular cleaning with fresh water when installed in high salinity environments (refer to instructions supplied with luminaire). The warranty does not cover tea staining or surface pitting caused by inadequate maintenance procedures.
  7. Hunza™ underwater luminaires are not covered by warranty in situations where there are chemical imbalances in the water.
  8. Warranty is excluded for corrosion due to electrolytic reactions caused by the presence of electrical current in the ground or water.
  9. Warranty excludes impact damage (except for glass lenses), incorrect installation and incorrect re-assembly.
  10. Luminaires must be kept properly maintained, including replacement of gaskets and lenses when necessary and use of approved wattage lamps.
  11. Luminaires must not be pressure washed (water blasted). Please refer to the IP rating of each fixture.
  12. Hunza™, at its discretion, may replace components to remedy the fault or supply a replacement luminaire.
  13. Hunza™ warranty is limited to the repair or replacement of products only. Labour charges will not be accepted.
  14. Warranty on transformers is limited to 5 years, and applies only when transformers are installed in environments at less than 40°C ambient temperature.
  15. Hunza™ will not be liable for any labour charges for any repair or replacement of defective drivers. Drivers have their own manufacturer warranty and any faults are the responsibility of the manufacturer.
  16. Hunza™ reserves the right to limit liability on non-standard (custom designed) luminaires and/or delivery arrangements.
  17. Damage caused by lightning strikes, high voltage spikes or incorrect polarity connection is not covered by the Black Label warranty.
  18. Polycarbonate and acrylic lenses are limited to a 5 year warranty.
  19. Acrylic Quartz, Cloak, TIR or Bollard lenses must not be cleaned with any petrochemical substance — this will void the warranty.
  20. Warranty excludes halogen lamps and lamp holders, which are consumable items.
  21. Use of 3rd party colour correction gels and filters will void the warranty if used with Hunza luminaires.

Statutory Rights

Our goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for any other reasonably foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to have the goods repaired or replaced if the goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure.

A failure to comply with a consumer guarantee is a major failure if the product:

  • would not have been bought by a reasonable consumer who knew about the problem;
  • is significantly different from the description, sample or demonstration model (if it was sold by description or by reference to a sample or demonstration model);
  • is substantially unfit for its usual purpose, and it cannot be fixed easily in a reasonable time;
  • is unfit for your particular purpose which you told us or the supplier about before you purchased the product, and it cannot be fixed easily in a reasonable time; or
  • is unsafe.

Warranty

We offer this warranty in addition to your other legal rights and remedies in respect to the product, which you are entitled to under the Australian Consumer Law.

We warrant that the product will be free from defects in materials and workmanship when used normally in accordance with the user and product instructions for 5 years for Aluminium Luminaires and all electronics, 10 years for Copper and Stainless Luminaires, and 25 years for Solid Bronze luminaires from the date of the original purchase, as stated on your receipt or invoice (“Warranty”).

All products deemed by us to be defective in workmanship or materials will be either repaired or replaced by us free of charge. This Warranty applies to products which were manufactured by us or on our behalf, bear our trade mark, were sold by us or our authorised distributors, and were not bought at auction.

Installation of our products must be performed by a qualified and licensed electrician. This Warranty will not apply if the product is installed by other than a qualified and licensed electrician. We do not accept liability for any direct or consequential damage, loss or other expense arising from misuse or incorrect installation and operation of our product. This Warranty is only valid in Australia, and can only be enforced to service the product in Australia.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we exclude all warranties, conditions and liabilities which are not guaranteed under the Australian Consumer Law or which are not expressly stated in this Warranty.

This Warranty does not apply to damage or issues caused by: incorrect voltage; failure to follow the supplied installation instructions; improper or incomplete installation or assembly; installation by an unqualified and/or unregistered electrician; improper or unauthorised electrical connection; corrosion due to electrolytic reactions caused by electrical current in the ground or water; inadequate maintenance procedures; high pressure washing; or external causes including fire, extreme temperature, water, flood, moisture, dampness, liquid or foreign material entering the product, dirt, dust, rust, corrosive conditions (including salt and sand), theft, vandalism, collision, pest or insect infestation, electrical surges or dips, hail, thunderstorms, lightning strikes, high voltage spikes, incorrect polarity connection, earthquakes, tornadoes, acid rain, acts of God, terrorism, war, environmental conditions, or any other act or circumstance beyond our control.

Making a Claim

Any claim under this Warranty must be made within the listed timeframe of the date of purchase of the product. If you believe your product has a defect, you can make a claim by calling 1800 187 760 during ordinary business hours (9am–5pm AEST) or emailing of****@*******om.au.

If you cannot provide this information and proof of purchase, we may reject your claim.

We handle your information in accordance with our Privacy Policy, and may share it with our authorised service personnel to process your claim. Claims must be made within the three-year warranty period stated; you may still have statutory rights after this time. Each claim is assessed on its individual circumstances.

We may request the product be posted to us. If your claim is valid and the product is located within Victoria, we will pay reasonable postage both ways. Outside Victoria, you bear the cost of posting the product to us — call or email us beforehand to confirm what’s reasonable. Use original or otherwise protective packaging; the product is transported at your risk unless we or our authorised personnel are transporting it, and we recommend insuring it during transport.

Remedy Under This Warranty

If we assess that your claim is valid and there is a minor failure with the product which can be repaired, we will repair it, replace it with an identical or similar product, or refund the price paid — free of charge for both labour and parts, within a reasonable time.
